Something's Fishy in Hollywood

n May 18, I spent
the afternoon in front of the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood to catch
celebrity arrivals at the Finding Nemo premiere.
Hollywood
Boulevard was shut down in front of the theatre. The street was transformed
into a pool of water, so to speak. Instead of red carpet, a carpet of
ocean blue. Colorful fish characters lined the blue carpet as well as
surrounding areas. Finding Nemo movie posters were hung everywhere.
Some people dressed in whimsical fish costumes rode bikes. When the limos
arrived, a fish would swim over to greet the celebrities.
The stars of Finding Nemo, those who lend their voices to the
animated film, showed up one by one. The crowd went bananas each time
someone new got out of their limo.
The
stars who graced us with their presence include Brad Garrett, Bruce Jenner,
Holly Robinson Peete, John Ratzenberger, Albert Brooks, Alexander Gould,
and Stephen Root.
Ellen DeGeneres arrived and signed a handful of autographs quickly and
efficiently while commenting that she was sorry, she didn't have much
time to sign.
When
Willem Dafoe came over to sign autographs, a woman stood behind him and
changed his belts. A few of us giggled at the sight. Willem, a true pro,
laughed it off and did a little dance while signing autographs, as the
woman put a new belt around his waist.
Most of the celebrities obliged the autograph requests. Almost all of
them waved as they made their way to the press area, at least. There were
a few who completely ignored the crowd. I won't name names (Cindy Crawford,
Steve Jobs). All in all, it was a pleasant event on a beautiful and sunny
L.A. day.
Now, go find that doggone fish!
